The Fernández-Vega Foundation now has a vehicle for social and health work thanks to the contribution of Obra Social Caja Madrid. The Foundation can now deliver ophthalmological treatment to people or groups with both economic and mobility difficulties.
Present at the delivery of the vehicle were several directors of Caja Madrid – including the Director of Northern Section Business, Juan Villaescusa, and Director of the Asturias Section, Roberto Ruíz Herce, as well as thePresident of the Foundation, Luis Fernández-Vega, accompanied by other members of this institution.
The new mobile unit is equipped in order to be able to provide ophthalmologic care for patients with difficulties and whose ilness does not require them to travel to the Fernández-Vega Ophthalmological Institute.
A slit lamp, as well as a high performance automatic refractometer, allows the examination and diagnosis of the vast majority of visual deficiencies.
The unit also has the appropriate platform that is compatible with an equipped wheelchair in order to facilitate the mobility of patients with some degree of disability in this regard.
